Excused Absence Form

Timber Creek High School Attendance Procedures Highlights

Student attendance directly affects student achievement.  Therefore, Timber Creek High School expects that students will attend all day, every school day.

Absences-student absences will be recorded as an unexcused absence until an acceptable excuse, as outlined by Orange County Public Schools, has been provided by the parent or guardian, indicating the reason for the student’s absence.  The principal is authorized, by the school board, to accept only the following reasons for absence(s):

  • Illness, injury or other insurmountable condition
  • Illness or death of a member of the student’s immediate family
  • Recognized (or established) religious holidays and/or religious instruction
  • Medical appointments
  • Legal appointments
  • Participation in an approved activity or class of instruction, held at another site

Absence Notes-In order for an absence to be marked excused, a parental note/doctor’s note needs to be received in the Attendance Office, no more than 48 hours, after the student returns to school.  Notes should include:  Name of student, Grade level, Student ID number, Date(s) of absence, Reason for the absence and a parent signature, with parental contact number, for verification purposes.  You may use the link above to access the Excused Absence Form; we will no longer be accepting emails to excuse a student’s absence from school.

Students with 5 or more unexcused absences will be subject to attendance interventions that range from a parent letter to Court Referral.

Students leaving early-If a student needs to leave early the student needs to either be signed out by a parent/guardian or sign themselves out, if they are 18 years of age.

30 minutes before dismissal-unless there is an emergency, students will not be signed out 30 minutes or less prior to the dismissal bell.

Driving license-Students with 15 or more unexcused absences, in a 90-day period will receive notification from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, of license suspension.  Students must be in attendance compliance to school for 30 consecutive school days to receive verification for license reinstatement.
